What Will Your Guests Remember?

Over the years, we’ve gotten plenty of feedback from our couples and clients at UDE Catering. From this, we have found there are two main areas that their guests overwhelmingly remember.  If you guessed that the food and the DJ are what your guests will talk about for years, then you are absolutely right!

Choosing your DJ and caterer are two big and important decisions you will make.  You want to make sure they both fit with your personality and your plans.  Remember, you will have guests of all ages at your reception, so you want to keep that in mind when choosing both the menu and playlist.

First, for a caterer, you want to make sure they have a personality you can work with.  You need to have trust and confidence in the folks you have asked to prepare the food and serve it to your friends and family.  Will they help you develop a menu? Are they flexible with the menu and services they provide?  You want to find someone who is easy to work with and is willing to think outside the box with you.  This is the day you’ve been dreaming about all your life. Do they understand and appreciate that?

Check out their equipment and abilities to make sure your food is served fresh and hot.  Ask to tour their kitchen and schedule a tasting.  You are asking them to provide food for perhaps hundreds of guests, so make sure you like the food they prepare.  Lastly, ask for testimonials and check them out.  You will get a lot of insight into how they operate and how they provide service by asking some of their former customers.

Ok, you have catering off your list, so let’s move on to the DJ. Here again, personality is king.  You can put together a playlist and hook up to a couple of speakers, but that won’t get people on the dance floor.  Good DJ’s have something special that allows them to engage folks and get them on that dance floor- both old and young!  We've all been to weddings where no one danced and been to others where everyone from Great Grandma to two-year old Johnny are dancing.  This is because the DJ knows the right song to play and the right words to use to get your guests dancing.  Don’t underestimate their power to make your party great.

So, what can you do to make sure you have the right DJ?  Step one is to make sure you like them.  Here, personality is a key to how they will perform.  Next, ask them if they have videos and pictures from past weddings.  You will also want to review their playlist and make sure they have up to date equipment.  Lastly, and probably most importantly, ask for references and check them out.

We hope this information helps you make a good decision when hiring the services your guests want most.  If you have more questions or would like to learn how we can help with these services, please contact us or call 763-754-6521.
